As I wind down from a truly perfect day celebrating our special boy, I can’t help but reflect on how profoundly motherhood has changed me. Just four short years ago, my life looked entirely different, and putting those changes into words feels like a daunting task. Nevertheless, I want to share these thoughts and insights, not just for myself but for any other mamas who might resonate with it.
Here are 7 ways becoming a mom has changed me. Relate? Be sure to drop a comment below.
I have a deeper capacity for love.
One of the most striking changes I've experienced is how much love I have for my children. My love for them is immeasurable, and it permeates every aspect of my life. The way I see the world has shifted; everything I do is now infused with a desire to nurture and protect them. On the flip side, I find that I care less about the opinions of others. The noise of outside judgment has faded, replaced by a fierce focus on what truly matters—my family.
I am so much better about living in the moment.
Motherhood has reminded me the importance of living in the moment. I’ve become more present, cherishing every fleeting moment of giggles, joy and laughter that come with raising my kiddos. Though those moments may be short-lived, they are incredibly impactful, reminding me to appreciate the here and now, rather than getting lost in what’s next.
Damn, kids are smart.
I’ve realized that my children are literally the best teachers. The lessons I learn from them—about love, patience, and resilience—are far more valuable than anything I ever learned in hours college or through business coaching. They challenge me to grow in ways I never anticipated, showing me that sometimes the best lessons are wrapped in the cutest packages.
Somebody try to stop me now...
My drive and excitement to achieve my goals has gotten so much bigger. I’ve never been more motivated to pursue my dreams, even though I find myself working fewer hours than ever before. Motherhood has shifted my priorities, making me more efficient and focused. I’m determined to create a life that reflects my dreams while also allowing me the time to be present for my mini besties.
Time. Oh, time.
As a mother, I often find myself wanting time to slow down. Yet, it seems to fly by faster than I can grasp or even process. Each and every milestone my babes reach serves as a reminder of how quickly they are growing, urging me to soak in every little moment, even as I wish for time to slow down and every special phase to last a little longer.
My heart is outside my body.
When people say that having children is like watching your heart live outside your body, I can’t think of a more accurate description. The love and vulnerability that come with parenthood are unparalleled. This experience is the ultimate motivator, pushing me to achieve all my goals and dreams not just for me, but for them. I thought I was motivated before becoming a mom, but I now understand that this journey has ignited a fire within me that is unstoppable.
It's just so wild how becoming a mom is such a transformative experience, one that changes our perspectives and priorities in amazing ways. As I think about my little time as a mom so far, I am just so damn grateful for the lessons, the love, and the moments that define my days. If you’re on this path, embrace the changes and let them guide you toward a life filled with purpose and passion. After all, nothing compares to the beautiful chaos of motherhood.
